Underwrite a Play

We invite you to become an Underwriter of a production, a program or an entire season. Beowulf Alley Theatre Company’s mission is create captivating experiences for our patrons, students and the Tucson community through the highest artistic and technical quality productions and education programs; and to provide a theatre where performing artists, educators and technicians can develop and present their skills and art.

BATC aims to break typical stereotypes about theatre by finding material that is not only new to Tucson, but by producing in a daring and distinctive style that will appeal to a whole new generation of theatergoers. With our energetic spirit and eclectic, artist-driven approach, we continually strive to reach new levels of artistic excellence that will cultivate a local and regional following. Beowulf Alley celebrates the intelligence of the actor, the vision of the director, the words of the playwright and the power of the theater.

By underwriting a play or program, in full or partially, you set an example for others to follow as public funds for the arts dwindle to almost nothing. As we come to the end of our third producing season, we reflect on our growth as an organization:

  • We produced two pieces in 2004, receiving critical acclaim from the Tucson area critics and audiences.
  • 2005 MAC Award Nomination (Arizona Daily Star) for Best Actress: Amy Almquist, Criminal Hearts
  • 2005 Best of Tucson Award (Tucson Weekly) for Best Performance by a Thespian: Roberto Guajardo, Underneath the Lintel
  • 2006 MAC Award Nominations for Best Drama: Frozen, Fiction; Best Actress: Alida Gunn, Fiction; and  Best Director: Stephen Elton, Frozen
  • 2006 MAC Awards for Best Actress: Lesley Abrams, Frozen; Best Comedy: The Four Farces, An Evening with Anton Chekov
  • Attendance has increased by more than 20%, and we have the potential to reach more than 15,000
  • Donations have increased by 100% to our annual giving campaign, most coming from private donations with all of our capital campaign funds coming from private donations
  • Subscriptions have increased by 200%
